Unfortunately, little published information exists regarding truck accidents in Jonesboro, AR, specifically. However, 2014 data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration paints a clearer picture of truck accidents in Arkansas as a whole:
On December 17th, 2020, the driver of a car died while trying to pass a truck when a side collision occurred. The car driver lost control of his vehicle on Interstate 555 in Marked Tree, dying at the accident scene. However, the passenger in the car survived but sustained severe injuries.

On May 23rd, 2021, a collision involving a Chevy Silverado and a tractor-trailer truck left one driver injured and another dead. A minor was driving the Chevy Silverado southbound when he crossed the center turn lane into the northbound lane. The tractor-trailer driver struck the car head-on, causing both vehicles to burst into flames.
On July 25th, 2021, a Jonesboro fire truck was involved in an accident at the intersection of Parker Road and Southwest Drive. Witnesses recall that a car hit the truck while the truck was driving through the intersection. You can see the car’s damage in the image below:
On August 4th, 2021, a tractor-trailer crash left a woman dead and a man injured. The crash happened on U.S. Highway 65 in the town of Winchester. The preliminary crash report states that the car was driving west on State Highway 138 and failed to yield at a stop sign. The car driver struck the right side of the tractor-trailer as the truck traveled southbound.
The main highways that run through Jonesboro are Interstate 555, Highway 18, Interstate 49, and Highway 1. Although there is no explicit trucking problem do cumented along these highways, construction on Interstate 555 makes conditions less than ideal.
Interstate 555 has been under construction for over a year, with newly paved roads rough, bumpy, and containing huge dips.
Highway 18 recently completed construction in late 2020, where multiple lanes were widened and added.

Every driver in Arkansas must purchase auto insurance coverage up to a certain amount but may add to this coverage for limits higher than the minimums.
Drivers must also file Arkansas’s Motor Vehicle Accident Report (SR-1) if there is more than $1,000 in property damage incurred, injury, or death to anyone involved in the crash.
