Kristal Muse was raised in Houston, TX but has called Knoxville, TN her home for almost 20 years. She attended Texas A&M University, College Station, and is a proud member of the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Class of 2000. Upon her graduation she attended Howard University School of Law in Washington, D.C., where she received a CALI award for Wills, Trusts & Estates, Conflict of Laws, and Legal Accounting. Mrs. Muse is admitted to practice law in Tennessee and North Carolina.
Prior to joining the NST in 2024, she has worked in the legal field for 20 years having gained valuable experience working more than six years for the State of Tennessee and then seven years for the Social Security Administration before transitioning to the private sector to represent clients in their disability claims. Mrs. Muse has been a Social Security Disability attorney since 2019 as she continues to help those in times they need it most. She utilizes the foundational information she acquired while working for the Social Security Administration including understanding the Sequential Evaluation Process, Social Security Adult and Child Listings as well as the Medical-Vocational Guidelines. Moreover, she is familiar with navigating the disability process throughout the entirety of a claim, particularly at the hearing level if necessary.
In her current role, she stays up to date on the complexities of the Social Security disability process, ensuring she is familiar with the applicable Code of Federal Regulations, Social Security Rulings and Acquiescence Rulings as well as SSA’s Program Operations Manual Systems (POMS). This allows her to provide legal guidance for her clients so that they can each focus on their health.
